The gist of competency based learning is letting learners move forward once they achieve a desired competency. This non-time based framework helps learners on all spectrums:
- Underachieving learners get more help and resources. Or might pivot to a different track.
- Average learners choose how much time and effort to move forward.
- Overachieving learners stay engaged and move at their own pace.
Cycling through the four stages of Skills Based Approach does not have time requirements, so works with Competency Based Learning (as shown in the image below).
